About my school – Student Blogging Challenge Week 7

Hello my name is Sebastian and I’m talking about what I would do if I were principal for a week.

I would let bring students bring any electronics to school because they could bring xbox’s and ps4’s to school and play together.

I would also allow students to bring their pets to school so they could play together but I would have to take the cats away from the dogs.

And one last rule would be to bring delicious food to school to share.

That’s what would happen if I were principal.

My PS4

Hello my name is Seb and I’m going to talk about my PS4.  I’m talking about my PS4 because it is one of my favorite things to do in my free time.

I have two controllers for my PS4.  One of my controllers is red and the other one is black.  I own 9 games on it. I have 7 friends. And that’s why I like my PS4.

Mindfulness workshops

The most important thing about mindfulness is to keep calm and feel whatever body part feels most appealing to you.

The thing I liked the most about the lessons was that the lessons were full of interesting things to do during them. One of the most interesting things Jan Carey (the person running the workshops) showed us was making us smell, feel, look and put a Malteaser in our mouths.  We had to feel it in our mouth and then finally eat the Malteaser.

Some of the feelings I had during the mindfulness lessons were when we were practising and working on our mindfulness.  I felt calm and tired because we kept closing our eyes and staying still.

It will help me in life because when I’m angry, I can use mindfulness when I need it.

Growth Mindset Day reflection

Garage band

The first activity of the day was garage band.  It was in mr Pastro’s classroom but the teacher was Mr Colagrossi.  This was the first time I used garage band on a MacBook.  I made my song with my friend Connor.  The song that we made was great I think.

Inspirational Quote

The second activity of the day was drawing your inspirational quote in Mr March’s room and the teacher was Mr March.  My quote was “I haven’t failed.  I’ve just found 100 ways it won’t work”.

Juggling

The third activity of the day was juggling in the hall and teacher teaching us how to juggle was Mr Pastro. The first thing he made us do was grab a box of three juggling balls and write our names on our box and juggling balls with a sharpie.  Then we started to throw one ball in the air, then two and, if you were good at it, three.

Sign Language/ Walk the Plank

My group went to the Art tables to learn the alphabet in sign language from A to Z.  Then we had to play a game called Walk the Plank, where our group had to split into two groups. The aim of the game was to get to the end of the hallway with your group on planks but you could not touch the floor.   Everybody thought it would be really easy, but it wasn’t.

Listening to the guest speaker

Everyday we go through challenges but Jo (the guest speaker) has very hard challenges everyday, but she talked about it so happily to the whole school, and even made some jokes.

Bread making flow charts

Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 9.51.24 am

After watching a video in Science on bread making we had to write a flow chart for how it was made.  This is my flow chart.

  • mix the ingredients
  • the dough is left to rise
  • knead the dough 8 minutes
  • dough is cut into pieces
  • dough is rolled into balls
  • balls are floured and left to rest
  • balls are flattened and put into moulds
  • dough goes into the prover and is left to rise
  • bread gets baked for 20 minutes
  • bread comes out of its mould with a vacuum
  • it is cooled and sliced
  • bread is packaged
